Our Promise

At A Step Ahead Performing Arts Studio, we work hard to ensure our students are "A Step Ahead" of the crowd.  We are not just a "do this" studio.

Strong technical training, with the proper understanding and use of technique terminology.  Just as a good doctor understands medical terminology, a good dancer must understand dance terminology.

Ability based classes, ensure students are learning technique and allow student to advance at their own pace,

Advanced neuromuscular training is taught in developmentally appropriate exercises as a tool to train and build strong minds, in a THINKING, problem-solving and creative class setting.

Music theory is studied as a tool to develop a strong understanding of the structure of music and how it relates to the dancer.  Students are taught to find the patterns, understand the sequence and create the structure.  This type of learning requires students to use their math skills.

Muscle anatomy is taught to give the students an understanding of which muscles are used and the importance of developing and using correct technique, making a better dancer who is free from injury.

Pilates and Alexander Techniques are used to create a core strength and an awareness of specific habits that may impede movements and create ease of movement by giving individuals specific exercises to release tension.  Resulting in a body that moves with greater ease and shifts styles with less effort and chances of injury.

Dance and music history are discussed, giving the student a deeper appreciation allowing them to grow in form.

Individualized attention is given to every student, to ensure the development of the student as a dancer.

Fun, humor, love, patience and a personal touch is promised to every student in every class.

"An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough.
One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling.
The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child."
